Sicilian chicken wrap

Today Tessa and I went to lunch with my mom, my grandmother (henceforth known as Nan nan,) my aunt (Auntie,) my sister Cassandra and her friend Kat. The area that we live in is just loaded with chain restaurants. We've got your typical TGIFridays, Olive Garden, Applebees, Red Lobster and so on and so forth. My Nan nan is a big fan of Friendly's so when we go on our lunch dates following her doctor's/hair dresser appointments, we frequently end up getting her a Fishamajig (and a BBQ chicken supermelt for me.) She suggested Friendly's today, but I couldn't handle it. I had been there three times in the past month and I could feel my chest constricting at the thought of the grease not to mention the toppings on the ice cream sundaes.
After much deliberation, Cassandra and I decided we would like to go to Cool Beans, a local coffee place that specializes in wraps, sandwiches, caloric desserts and various coffee drinks. I was excited to go and immediately thought of the handful of wraps I typically order. I like to get the chicken cheddar, baked and filled with a ton of cheese and served with sour cream and salsa, the fiesta chicken, with a lime/Mexican chicken, salsa, grated cheese and sour cream on the side, or the chicken bruscetta, baked and loaded with melted mozzerella. And then I remembered I would have to order something else. Looking over the menu was exhausting. Everything sounded good, but at the same time, nothing sounded as good as my favorite three. Maybe I could just order what I always do and just not tell anyone. Oh wait, the picture would be on my other blog (www.photoblog.com/foodsnap) and then everyone would know that I was half-assed about this new project. So I was stuck. Step out of that comfort zone!
I flipped back and forth, over and over. Maybe a portabella wrap? How bout this one? What about that one? In the end I chose the Sicilian chicken wrap with pesto, tomatoes, and fresh mozzerella cheese. I ordered the potato salad on the side, even though I always get that, but it is so good I don't care what the heck the mission of this blog is. Potato salad? Yes please.
My wrap was not baked like the cheddar chicken one that I like so much, but the ingredients worked well cold, especially the cheese. The flavor was good, basically exactly what you would expect. Italian, basil, fresh, very green. It was a little bit of a disaster to eat as the pesto was pretty oily and dripped all down my hands, but in the end it wasn't bad. Unfortunately a little ordinary, but a decent lunch. The only problem was that the whole time I was eating, and for hours after I got back home, I was wishing I had gotten the fiesta chicken wrap. I missed my sour cream fix. I guess I am glad that I tried something new, but this time around, I ended up disappointed. I suppose every new thing that I eat can't be an eye-opening experience into new foods, but it's still a shame when I would rather have had my standard order. Ah well.
Until next time!
